Build a Website That Converts (Not Just Looks Good)
Concrete basics for a brochure site or landing page that generates leads — structure, offer, technical SEO, and forms.
A pretty site that never gets a message is an expensive brochure. Here’s what actually moves the needle when you launch or redesign your online presence.
1. A clear offer above the fold
In 5 seconds, a visitor should understand:
- Who you work with
- Which problem you solve
- What to do next (quote, call, demo)
Skip vague lines (“innovative digital solutions”). Prefer: “I build Next.js sites that convert for freelancers and SMBs in the Paris region.”
2. One page, one job
Each section should have one goal. On an effective freelance homepage:
- Promise + proof of stack
- Services (clear scope)
- Process / timeline
- Case studies
- FAQ for objections
- Quote CTA
Too many made-up “stats” blocks or decorative cards kill readability.
3. Technical SEO from day one
You don’t have to wait “until after design”:
- Useful H1/H2 headings (words your clients actually search)
- Unique title tags and meta descriptions
- Clean URLs, sitemap,
robots.txt - Mobile performance (Core Web Vitals)
- Basic Schema.org (Person / ProfessionalService)
Long-form SEO content (articles) comes later — but the technical foundation should be solid at launch.
4. Treat the form like a product
A generic “subject + message” form converts poorly. Ask for what matters:
- Project type (brochure site / app / takeover)
- Desired timeline
- Indicative budget (ranges)
Then reply fast. Response speed often beats design.
5. Ship to production, not Figma
A site that converts is live, measurable, and iterable. A local preview ≠ business.
